Spring Season at Guild 240

From Jazz to Vernissage to Verdi

Ottawa Ontario, March 19, 2013: Nothing like spring and a bit of sun (not today though!) to get the creative juices going.  Here’s what Guild 240 at Galerie 240 is up to in the next couple of months:

Judith Humenick has been busy preparing for the US launch of the recently released Don Braden/Julie Michels Project CD “Come Together”.   She will be in Toronto for New York based Jazz vocalist Roseanna Vitro’s show, “The Music of Randy Newman” at Hugh’s Room today, where Toronto Jazz vocalist Julie Michels will join Roseanna as a guest performer…then on to New York for several days of meetings with jazz musicians whom she is representing.

The series “Energetic Art” Classes, with Reiki Master Dorothy Constantineau, will explore the gentle effects of Reiki healing and how it influences our artistic expression. In the first class, participants will work with Brenda Gale Warner using pastels, techniques and tips:  this art class will be supplemented by a ten-minute Reiki session with Dorothy.

The classes are $90.00 per session with all supplies included.  A healthy snack will also be provided.  The class, limited to 10 participants, runs from 12:00 to 4:30 pm on Sunday, April 7.

Michelle Richards is launching her jewellery line Wilde Buddha this month at Galerie 240.  These sterling silver creations are inspired from her travels throughout the world.

Valorie Preston, the newest member of Guild 240, will be showing her new work from April 14 to 28 at Galerie 240.  The Vernissage will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Kita Szpak is promoting a number of local events: Savoy Society’s H.M.S. Pinafore or 50 Shades of Navy Blue at the Algonquin Commons Theatre April 11-13 and April 18-20; Ottawa Classical Choir’s presentation of Verdi’s Greatest Arias and Choruses at Dominion-Chalmers Church on May 4; Queenswood Stables’ fundraiser – A Dog’s Best Friend is a Horse Day on May 5; and, Tone Cluster’s anti-bullying concert words at Library and Archives on May 25.

Valerie Burton will be showing at Galerie 240 in the month of June. Vernissage date will be announced at a later date.
