“Though the movie “Bend It Like Beckham” deals with a young Indian girl whose traditional parents do not want her playing soccer, when the title popped in my head, I was thinking more along the lines of bending into changing circumstances especially innocent and innocuous ones – an unexpected request to help a neighbour, waiting longer for an appointment, doubling back because you’ve forgotten the milk, a sold-out movie you’ve been wanting to see, the stain in the blouse that was supposed to be worn today, no picnic because of the rain, a delayed client payment and on it goes. What is interesting is what takes over the freed-up ether that has been created in these moments of sudden disconnect. I believe it is in these small event switches that the Divine is plotting your life ever so carefully, thoughtfully and lovingly.”
